| BY LEON B. CREWS Sentinel Staff Writer What was once just a venue where only a handful of people attended, now has grown to a mega event that needed a larger venue.
Black-On-Black Rhyme Tampa signaled the end of 2007 with a huge celebration. On hand were nationally renowned spoken word artists Martina Strange, Bazi Man (Walter Upshaw), and Spoken X. "Big Phill started us off, then a poet new to Black-On-Black Rhyme Tampa named Nehri dropped a couple on us and left the audience asking for more," said LIFE, Tampa's number one spoken word artist. "Next, my teammate, Real Sh-t hit the stage and did a couple of pieces." LIFE said a highlight of the evening was a surprise visit from Taalam Acey who arrived and took the stage. The show was closed out by Ryan B. For 2008, LIFE said he wants to see Black-On-Black Rhyme Tampa become the event to attend. On New Year's night, they will be performing at the Harbor Club and kicking off 2008 with hopes that more people will come and listen to what these artists have to say. |
